This is one of the best Lakes to visit for pretty scenery and wonderful walks. There is plenty of lake access if you have a boat, and a few places where you can hire canoes and traditional rowing boats to explore the islands. We have an inflatable canoe and were able to easily access the lake shore near Greatwood Car... More

This is well worth a visit. If you want to get a different perspective on Derwent water, I would suggest you take a trip to Ashness Bridge. Just a bit further up from the bridge is a view point called Surprise View. It is will worth the drive up there. You can see all of Derwentwater and Basenthwaite Lake aswell.

Beautiful scenery by the lake, we hired a row boat for 26£ for 2 hours which is a fair price. Would totally recommend a day out here especially in good weather...

Spent a few hours walking along the lake, it's really nice there, unfortunately the weather wasn't good , but you see the fells across the lake, people have dogs and small kids with them and it's just good atmosphere there

Derwentwater is my favourite lake. Beautiful mountainous scenery and secret islands make it a lovely place to wander and contemplate. Nearby Keswick is also a nice place to stop for nibbles and to explore the quirky shops. The car park by the Theatre by the Lake is a good place to leave the car (be aware charges apply). The Lake... Situated a short distance uphill ( 8oo metres) from Ashness Bridge, in Borrowdale, nr Keswick & managed by the National Trust, Surprise View is a sight not to be missed by anyone holidaying in the north West Lake District. Possibly seen best in the spring or autumn on a clear crisp day while the trees are bare of foliage. Views... More

I think it the most attractive of the lakes. The hills around frame it beautifully, any time of year. There is great walking around the lake, boat trips and some lovely places to stop for coffee or a bite. And all surrounded by those hills. Lovely.

This lake has astonishing views I highly recommend to come to see. Visited in February when tops of the mountains surrounding lake were covered under snow while the bottom was coloured with green, brown, red and sunset-like orange colours which was wonderful. It can get quite cold though so proper clothing well recommended if you plan to see it in... More

What's not to like. A fully accessible lake, great walk around the circumference and a couple of nice places for lunch half way round. Great views of Catbells and the Skiddaw range. Friars Crag affords a great view and is only a few hundred metres from Keswick town. Gods country👍
