We took the Wrynose pass from coast to Ambleside however I have done this route before but the other direction and this is more spectacular. The Wrynose pass is through spectacular scenery and is not too difficult, with little traffic and lots of passing points....More

To begin with Wynose Pass put the fear of god into us but after five minutes we settled into the driving and then absolutely loved it! The views are amazing, the scenery and wildlife and farm animals are fab and it’s actually really great fun...More

Superb views and an exciting drive through this pass which compares well with the Honister and Hardknott passes. A special experience but not one to be undertaken by nervous drivers or those who dislike heights

What an experience driving across this pass! The views were breathtaking as we reached the top of the pass. The road was at times very narrow, but other drivers were cautious as well, so it was incident-free. Just don't be in a hurry, and stop...More

Modern cars have no mechanical difficulties any more, but are the drivers prepared for the 1:3 hills, especially when faced with reversing down hill to allow passing on the very narrrow road. Easy Access to Wet Side Edge and Cold Pike from the summit.

I have driven over the Wrynose pass several times over the years usually to walk on the fells. You can either join it via Hardknott Pass or via Duddon Valley both of which are attractive in their own ways. If you want to drive slowly...More

Whenever I am in the area I make a point of driving the Wrynose and Hardknott passes. Both are challenging, but immensely enjoyable as long as you are a relatively experienced driver. And as well as the sheer enjoyment of driving the road, the scenery...More

If you could guarantee that you would be the only one on the road with nothing coming in the opposite direction you could relax a bit more. However, 4x4’s (who seem to own the road don’t you know) not moving over and expecting you to...More

Hi. From where you are I don't know because I came from Milton Keynes. The nearest village we saw was Ambleside and I hope this helps. It's beautiful.
