A real gem with a collection covering a wide range of subjects and periods. A must for visitors. The catering facility offers a reasonable choice of snacks and light lunches at a reasonable price

As part of the City of Culture I visited Hull with a friend. Spent time in a number of museums and exhibitions all of which were excellent and FREE. However, totally blown away by the Ferens art gallery, beautiful building, fantastic art, loved the Rembrandt,...More

Photos by Spencer Tunick AND the startling work of Robert Mueck - either would make it worth coming here but having both makes it great. All the more memorable because we now recognise the streets full of blue and green naked bodies. Loved it!

Lovely family space towards the front of the building.Lots of things to do and activities related to the artworks on the wall in the space and a fab squishy liquid filled floor - endless fun! Then a good cup of coffee in the cafe.

This gallery has a well presented permanent collection. For a municipal facility it is very good and reflects Hull's commercial development. The special exhibition (Skin) is thought provoking and often disturbing. Staff and volunteers enthusiastic and helpful.

Went to see the Skin exhibition the works by Mueck are astounding its difficult to believe they are not alive they are that real. Also the Rembrandt collection on display is superb. Must spend more time in here to discover its hidden gems.
