About
The building was built for Customs & Excise and was used as this until the 1980's. It is now home to the Ramsgate Visitor Centre, the Custom House Coffee Shop, a gallery and gift shop Nice Things and the RNLI shop. Ramsgate's Town Council have the first floor with the Mayor's Parlour and the Council Chamber, which is available for hire for dinners and parties. The building has been well restored and has most of its original features including the doors and ornate plaster mouldings.

The offices of the Town Council, a shop for the RNLI and a wonderful cafe, the Customs House is well worth a visit.

Impressive ...but incorrectly titled!
Apr 2019 • Solo
This old building is now home to the tourist office, but its role does not feature in the title ....bizarre. The building houses an impressive array of tourist information for the local area and towns and buildings on the other side of the county. Staff are also on hand to help.

Good use of a smart, old building.

This beautifully designed old building is now home to a cafe, an RNLI shop and a well-stocked tourist information office. Worth visiting and check out the exterior design.

A part of historical Ramsgate that we visited. Of great interest if you have the time. Close to the sea front

Popped in for information on how best to get to Joss Bay via public transport. Lady in information centre helpful and knowledgeable. Decent selection of leaflets.

A Great Place For Info

The building is opposite the Beach & makes use of the ground floor

The ground floor has within it a tourist centre where you can collect
leaflets for attractions & a RNLI shop which sells clothing & touristy
goods & treats .

The centre also has a coffee shop selling refreshments

Visitors centre, RNLI shop and coffee shop

Useful for getting directions and visitor information. The member of staff was a local resident and very knowledgeable and humorous. There is a small shop selling things to raise funds for the lifeboats and a coffee shop. It is a very lovely looking building.

Toilet inside building!
Apr 2017 • Friends
Previously customers have stated no toilet but there is one there for the general public to use and this I know as I regularly visit here for food when in Ramsgate and the toilet is always available and clean.

Not very friendly here. No toilets for the public. A nice gift shop though.

We made our way over here to the gift shop which is lovely. There is a fairly ordinary looking café which supposedly doubles up as a gallery but there did not seem to be much on display. The reason it gets a poor rating from me is that it is not a friendly place. There is a sign prohibiting anyone other than council employees from using the toilet - there is (not very nice) a public convenience across the road but if you are coming in here as an attraction it is not very nice to be told you cannot use the loo. Also this is supposed to be a Tourist Information centre but I was put off asking for help as the member of staff on the desk was not welcoming.
