We pre-booked our tickets but I don't think there would be any problems with turning up on the day. Lots of animals to see and not expensive £24.50 per adult. Some of the animals are being re-wilded like the elephants. They are being sent back to live in the wild as are some of the other animals so I am not sure if this means they are eventually going to close the park down. There are a few hilly bits but the park is mainly flat.

We visited on 23rd Sept and arranged for our 19 year old daughter to have the elephant encounter. It was fantastic and she loved it. Ren was the one who looked after it and she also did other talks around the park. She was very nice and very knowledgeable about all the animals, a credit to the park. We had a fantastic day and will visit again.

Booked day tickets and Rhino experience.. All I can say is what an experience. 30 mins with Damara , was an experience to remember. The Keeper was very informative and we learnt so much. Damara was the star of the show and all I can say is, support the zoo and spend your money on an experience, you won’t forget it.

From beginning to end this was an amazing experience. Animals were out with poses and all looked happy and fun! Had some talks that was amazing, the speaker Charlie, made learning fun and was happy to have a conversation with the group. So 10/5 Charlie (I hope that's your name). It was quieter than usual but still made it all the more enjoyable. Felt like kids for the day. I would recommend a visit.

Felt very welcomed as soon as we walked through the entrance. Lovely/friendly Lady at reception who was also very helpful informing us where to go and what to do as well as asking how our visit was on the exit. Also a lovely young man at the donating stand for the Aspinall Foundation and helping endangered animals around the world, again very friendly and very informative.

We has such a nice experince we will be visiting again very soon! Thank you for the staff for adding to our visit :)

I love this place, it's wonderful. I've been here several times before and today I stopped off again with my partner on an impromptu visit to the area. Many people don't realise but Howletts is an animal park and not a zoo. Howletts focus on animal conservation rescuing all animals, creating an environment in which they can breed, releasing animals back into the wild and preservation and protection of wild life locally too, so patience is needed with the animals as they will at times go inside or wander.

We arrived quite late in the day at around 3pm, it was very quiet but we were greeted by Sarah who was very cheerful and helpful and kindly gave us our tickets and advised us about finding our way around. Being there later in the day was wonderful, it was very quiet and so the animals were quite happy to wander out and we saw pretty much every animal, with the exception of the Tigers. We managed to take a nice leisurely stroll around as if we had the whole park to ourselves. It took us around an hour and a half to two hours but it was fabulous.

Howletts covers a very large area and has a great number of animals including lions, tigers, lemur's, buffalo, ostriches, wolves, elephants, rhinos, gorillas and many species of monkeys, to name a few. It's very reasonably priced and there's are lots of play areas for children, coffee shops, restaurants and sweet shops scattered around the park. Going so late in the day we also got to see feeding time for many of the animals as well, and the staff members dishing up dinner for the residents were really friendly and informative.

We stopped in the gift shop before we left and picked up some souvenirs and had a lovely chat with Sarah and the park manager Louise. Both ladies were friendly, polite and very helpful. They happily answered all of our questions, taught us a lot we didn't know about the park and the local area, helped us find what we were looking for and were both just great.

I'd recommend Howletts to anyone in the area, or anyone looking for a day out with or without the kids. It's a wonderful charity doing amazing work and providing a really lovely, reasonably priced day out.

An excellent private tour with Renn and Dom. Monkey and Snow leopard feeding and a fascinating education on the elephants and their forthcoming re wilding to Kenya. Really interesting day.

I’m amazed by the negative reviews here; we had a wonderful time seeing a great selection of animals from cheetahs to elephants to gorillas to ostriches. The walk amongst the lemurs was a highlight and we must have seen over 40 species of animal. The kids (7/5/3) also enjoyed the ice age exhibit. The zookeeper in the lemur zone was very friendly and knowledgeable too.

The park felt very quiet which is a shame but made for a superbly tranquil, enjoyable experience. We stayed at port lympne the night before so entry was free, perhaps it’s on the pricey side for a day trip but I would thoroughly recommend a visit. Also very impressed that they will be successfully reintroducing a number of elephants back to Africa which shows what a success these conservation projects can be

As a family we always rated Howletts but haven’t been for a number of years. What a difference. It seems now that the part is being run down with so many empty cages and lower numbers of animals than ever before. We were really surprised as to what has happened. Even food/ drink kiosks were closed on a bank holiday weekend apart from the main 2 cafes and the gift shop was a poor shadow of its former self. On a positive the food in the main cafe was very good albeit expensive.

Echoing everything everyone has said
Fantabulous weekend girls. Such precious memories rekindled & a wonderful opportunity to be able to see old friends & see everyone building new dynamics to old friendships.
Thank you Whitty for facilitating this so beautifully. ❤️ you wonderful woman.

The Pig at Bridge Canterbury
Echoing all previous excellent reviews.
Impeccable service & really Scrummy food.
Everything so well organised.
Our group of 13 had a ‘Feasting Menu’ & were able to eat outside undercover & adjacent to heaters. They even brought blankets out when it began to get really chilly. I would certainly eat there again.

The Red Lion at Bridge Canterbury
We were a party of seven and Wall thoroughly enjoyed our evening here.

Lovely, lively old-fashioned informal comfortable village pub.
Congenial atmosphere. Obviously very popular and well used by the locals & rightly so.
Food was really good, nicely presented and arrived in good time. Landlord was most engaging. Every local should have a landlord like him.

Ramblers Rest Trenley Drive
Spacious & airy accomodation all on one level, beautifully furnished & decorated. Equipped with with everything we needed. All of us remarked that the beds were very comfortable. Even me & that’s a rarity.

The hosts had baked us a scrumptious cake and provided us with a considerable welcome basket with bread, croissants, cereals, home made jam, bottle of cordial & some milk. The cupboard was stocked with with tea coffee sugar and some Nespresso coffee pods for the machine.

The owners make a variety of delicious peanut butters & also cordials made from the fruit they grow. We were able to try all these & bought a super selection to take home for ourselves & to give as gifts.

The hosts were charming, helpful couple. This is a delightful place to stay; quiet and tranquil and within easy reach of lots of things to do.

Such a super-duper reunion weekend at Bridge. Everything organised & planned so beautifully by Whitty. Fantastic Choice of venues. Loved every moment. Well done Whitty
Loving this rekindling of friendships after practically 50 years.
Looking forward to meet ups in between now and our next form Reunion and who knows hopefully we may even be joined by girls from Denmark, Canada or my goodness me ‘New Zealand’.

Howletts
Most enjoyable day spent at Howletts with large group of friends.
I have great admiration for their breeding program. The keepers were most informative.
We had a lovely light lunch in the café
They don’t have their own Mobility Scooters. So I organised one from Manston Mobility who delivered & collected it from our BnB at times to suit me.
