Lovely afternoon by the Sea

When the weather is right, there really is nothing to beat an English summer's afternoon spent cycling around the beautiful Kent coast. With the exception of a few short... read more

I was looking for a coastal walk to do with my Mum who is in an electric wheelchair. This path is fantastic, flat concrete and easily accessible. We joined the path at St. Mildred's Bay and walked into Margate and back again. We found toilets along the way and a couple of places for a cup of tea and ice... More

When the weather is right, there really is nothing to beat an English summer's afternoon spent cycling around the beautiful Kent coast. With the exception of a few short inclines the route (waymarked as national route 15) is largely flat and so would suit family or novice cyclists. The route begins in the west at Reculver country Park and can... More

We started our walk over the road from Ramsgate cliff top at a beautiful garden with a waterfall. Crossing the road we continued to walk towards broadstairs along the headland, the route took us through parkland which is a must for dog lovers. There was even a coach load of lercher owners that turned up to do the walk. The... More

Loved cycling on this path we went from Reculver to Sandwich and back. There are a few places you have to push your bike in front of beach huts. But we got up plenty of speed on our road bikes enjoying miles of traffic free cycling a real safe treat. Would be great for families too well sign posted and... More

Good 30 mile circular route, undulating countryside and lots of coast! If you like the sea, you'll like this one. My only gripe is that some of the "cycle" route is on shared paths - this is fine except where shared means "no cycling" there's probably over a mile of walking your bike in total - personally I take share... We did this ride last week. We started at Seasalter, into Whitstable onto Herne Bay and got as far as Wesgate on Sea. Beautiful ride. We loved it. Lots to see along the way. Surface was excellent. We did have the wind against us all the way so didnt get to Margate. We were to knackered. We stopped at the... More

We walked from Margate to Broadstairs and used the good train service to return to Margate. The walk follows a concrete coastal platform at the foot of the cliffs a lot of the way. There are some excellent sandy bays on the way with cafes and occasional WCs - Botany Bay was a convenient stop! One criticism is that there... More

My friend Jennie and I have had a great 3 days cycling in Kent. Two days on the Viking Trail. And today from Herne Bay to Whitstable and back. We stayed at Smiths Court Hotel in Margate which we can highly recommend, as we can Ken's Bikes in Margate. Ken was very helpful in enabling us to have bikes of... More

My partner and I choose new walking trails in Kent every now and then and this time we decided to walk between Margate and Ramsgate; this Viking trail was our choice and it was really - I mean really! - boring. Most of the trail is either an asphalt road or too close to the main road. Except for some... More
