Unlike some gardens such as Hidcote there is little formal planting in 'rooms'. It is more like going for an interesting walk in the woods with a few plants and other features to provide a pleasant distraction. It is situated on a steep bend in...More

We went to the Weir Garden without knowing much about it. It turned out to be an enjoyable walk around a varied and compact landscape. Taking a picnic is recommended.

Looking for something different to do in Hereford on a pleasant Sunday afternoon a quick perusal of my iPad came up with The Weir Garden. A former member of the National Trust, I may reconsider rejoining after visiting his very different and lovely gardens by...More

Visited on a damp quiet Friday with our dogs but wee told that even dogs on a lead were not allowed into the garden which turned out to be an informal woodland affair. Could not see any justification for this dog ban and we were...More

Most of the narcissi were over when we were there, but different types of bluebell and allium (such as the three-cornered leek) were flowering throughout the various paths. Good views from various places, and a good stretch of the River Wye to watch bird's and...More

G!old access for cars and pedestrians, take a quiet walk through the trees, listen to the birds singing above the babbling of the River Wye as it flows past on it's way down towards the sea. Take a picnic with you and have your meal...More

A nice quiet place to go for a walk. Not for disabled visitors or those with mobility challenges. A lovely garden below the New Weir and a walled garden to explore. No tea room but there are toilets - a nice place for a picnic.

This is an attraction worth a visit. However if you have limited mobility, buggies/strollers & young children this will be a challenge but not insurmountable. We were warned about the tree roots but not advised to take a more passable route (which we found on...More

A wonderful garden to visit early spring when the snowdrops are flowering and later on with the daffodils when the abundance of trees are in bud. This is the most perfect setting by the river. A lovely path takes you along the river bank into...More

It wasn't the best weather for a trip to the gardens - overcast and a bit drizzly, but it didn't diminish them in any way. The paths meander along on a gradual slope until you are overlooking the river, the bank down to it was...More

How much does it cost ?

Answer

It is £6.95 if you use gift aid or £6.25 if you don't use gift aid. It is well worth paying the money. I am a National Trust member, so get in free.
