Re-built several times, including after a complete collapse of one wing. Less high quality building can still be seen - apparently as a result of a dearth of craftsmen following the Black Death.

Magnificent Cathedral. Lots to see. Great history. Mappa Mundi is the oldest map in the world. Must see. Situated in centre of Hereford. Parking nearby.

A very interesting and awe-inspiring cathedral with lots of nooks and crannies and detail everywhere. Particularly interesting design on the top of the arches.

We came here for the Festival of Carols on 23rd December - it was absolutely packed & was an expectant atmosphere. The service was piped around the entire cathedral with the choir visited each part of the church to sign carols. Excellent singing from them.

Magnificent cathedral dating from 1079, with an incredible Mappa Mundi (world map) dating from the 1300s with their interpretation of how the world was. In addition chained library, now housed in a new building but with the original bookshelves and chained books.... More
