A very well presented and curated exhibition which explains the various perspectives of the Mappa Mundi, with Jerusalem at the centre of the known world. The Chained Library is amazingly well preserved and provides an insight into the life of theologians centuries ago. Well worth...More

The story and purpose calmly explained by knowledgeable staff. Raises as many questions as it answers but the details of the map are intriguing. History of books just as interesting and the chained library clearly a Harry Potter influence

The museum house not just the Mappa Mundi, which is wonderful to see (superb condition for its age) and learn about how people of the time viewed the world and our part in it. It also house a 3rd edition Magna Carta, the version that...More

We had very informative guides in both the map area and the library so we probably spent longer than average here. However some other people seemed to spend very little time in the building. I loved the history but can understand why some people feel...More

Nobody goes to see the mappa mundi in hereford usually unless they have a visitor but the intrigue of this middle ages document surpases any five star rating. Jerusalem in the middle, monsters at the edge, it's what the world was like to people then.

We went to Hereford specifically to see this exhibition and we weren't disappointed...you couldn't spend too long looking at the actual map because others were waiting to view it as well, so you tend to hover around a bit waiting to get another close look!

I’d say 3/4 hour. But worth doing the Mappa Mundi and chain library. There are concessions for children & families. About the same time the main cathedral. There is an outside and inside Cafe for a relaxing break.
