I was skeptical that a museum could hold the interest of my very active 7 year old but she loved it! Highlights were the interactive parts of the Titanic Story, especially steering the ship, stoking the coal and learning morse code. I thought the costume trunk was a fab touch too. Highly impressed, well worth a visit.

I’m not a big museum person, but did find this very interesting. It’s got a lot of information on the Titanic, interesting visuals. Not a very big museum but lots to see.

My daughter and I, she is 7. Spent a few hours there was plenty to keep her interested. And area where you can dress up, you can steer the ship and shove the coal. Even try your hand at morse code. We even made our own game and picked 6 people to be as we walked in and then had a look to see who
of those people who would have survived

The exhibition of the history of the Titanic from the perspective of the crew members and passengers from Southampton was moving and very exciting. The unsinkable ship sank and with it the hopes of many people.

We visited Southampton recently to go to the theatre and booked to visit the SeaCity Museum, as we were particularly interested in the Titanic exhibition. And we were not disappointed and wished we had allowed more time to see all the exhibition areas fully. Delightful helpful staff. Central location. Great entrance price. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed all the information there was to read about the Titanic, as well as hearing the real life accounts from the survivors and watching a video about the inquest. I felt like I learnt a lot from my time here. There is also a section of the museum about the history of Southampton, again with plenty of information to read. Allow around 2 hours to visit.

We spent a great 3.5 hours going around the museum. The layout is really good. The Southampton Titanic story was very informative and well planed out plenty of things to keep the children entertained. The inquiry held after the disaster is played out in a 1930s courtroom.
The Southampton Gateway to the world covers the timeline from early settlers to the present day,

My son is obsessed with Titanic and so this was a must-see place before going on our cruise.
The price was right and although it was small, it was very educational.
What I liked the most about the exhibits is how they emphasized the people of Southampton and how they were affected by the tragedy.

The Seacity museum isn’t the type of museum that would normally attract my interest, however I was aware they have a Titanic exhibition there and that does interest me. Housed in a beautiful old magistrates court, the Titanic exhibition tells the story from the local point of view which was quite interesting. The majority of the 900 crew were from Southampton, which meant that after the disaster, most people knew someone who had died in the tragedy. If you are expecting any Titanic artefacts, you’ll be disappointed, there are a couple, in particular a stopwatch taken off the body of one of the crew members, but of course, but they went down with the ship. It’s information heavy, and more interestingly, audio heavy, with accounts told by actual survivors and you can also sit in the court and listen to some of the inquiry (which I am sure was held in the same room as you are sat in).
There are a couple of other exhibitions; Gateway to the world and the Southampton story, both of which are ok, but let’s be honest, most are there for the Titanic Story. In all honesty, I was a little disappointed, but the important thing to be aware of which I wish I’d known prior to visiting, is how all the exhibitions are told from the Southampton perspective.
It’s a nice museum, made more interesting because of the Titanic exhibition. There is also a nice café and store on site.
