This isn’t a review of the museum (although the museum is great) but a review of the cafe. We didn’t have to buy a ticket to the museum to access the cafe. It’s a brilliant place for lunch, the food was really nice and the staff were absolutely excellent, going above and beyond for us. You can sit outside next to the garden and it’s a really peaceful place. It’s easy to forget you’re in the city centre! Will definitely be back for lunch soon.

A wonderfully historic old building with plenty to see. Beautiful beams, Tudor stories, helpful staff and a pretty herb garden. But do watch out for the various spirits that loiter around its creaky corridors… Expect the unexpected!

Not a bad price to get in, you can get a phone which when you press the corresponding number tells you a bit about that particular area. It has a small cafe and toilets. The place is more of a museum than an house. The kitchen area was well set out but the rest of the house I was a bit disappointed, I expected to see rooms with furniture but there was not. I would still recommend people to go.

It was all atmospheric and wonderful A true feeling of a time gone past.

The small restaurant is adequate and friendly. The Tudor garden is a must.

What a privilege to come across this hidden gem! Highly recommend a visit here - not expensive and lots to take in and see. Such a wonderful atmosphere. It must be nice to see the garden in warmer weather, but even in February one could feel the atmosphere. Lovely cafe. Really enjoyed my visit. Staff friendly and welcoming.

This is a privately run museum so there is an admission, but the money is used to maintain and upgrade the building and experience. It's worth an hour or so visit. Volunteer docents are friendly and well-informed. We learned more about history than in some grander house experiences in England.

More details and free family days out in Kent & the UK on my blog 'The Frenchie Mummy' and on Instagram @thefrenchiemummy. So Google it and have a look there too! Merci!

Such a lovely surprise! I was expecting a little tour but we got a fabulous exhibition.

You start the visit with a fun 10 minutes interactive presentation. Think funky spirits telling you about this famous place in the heart of the Old Town. And then to carry on in the beautiful garden before the rest of the house.

The whole exhibition is so interactive and fun, especially the displays recreating life in the old days. The museum is perfect for families, with activities and games to keep the little ones busy. What a great surprise!
