I have been using the Hythe ferry occasionally for many decades. We lived on the Hythe side many years ago and used it to get to and from Southampton. Since then, I used it when visiting my grandparents (decades ago, sadly) and earlier this month....More

Since being taken over by Lee, and with the community backing the saving of Hythe Pier and Train, the ferry service has greatly improved and is well worth a visit.

Hythe Ferry is steeped in history along the the Pier and the Pier Train. Hythe village and waterfront Promenade is well worth a visit and it is a quaint little village with some small shops and cafes. The ferry will take you to the town...More

This is a favourite trip for my grandchildren. We get on the ferry, look out for the liners, new cars, yachts and other big boats then choose our carriage on the train. Depending on the weather it is followed by an icecream or hot chocolate...More

When to take the ferry to Southampton. Hythe pair is very long and you can walk(which is very enjoyable)or take the train to the ferry. the journey to Southampton is good as you can see cruse ships and container ships in dock.

Not only the best place to get close to the big ships but also a great little 100 year old train too! If you're on the New Forest side, then a pier/train only ticket is exceedingly cheap and a great way to pass an hour.

This is a little gem and local bit of history why park in Southampton when you can park in Hythe and get the ferry over into the edge of Southampton extremely reasonable prices and a great view of the docks
