A beautiful building, which unfortunately, both in the past and recent years has suffered from poor renovation attemps and lack of repairs. It now look out of place as the Council have allowed building around it to be too modern in design and therefore spoiling...More

The Bargate is a great old structure and one of many on our self guided tour of Jane Austen in Southampton. Its a great spot for pics and next to a large shopping area.

Nice historic land mark. Right at the end of the main shopping area. Good photo op’. From a distance you think your walking up to a castle.

One of the oldest walls of Southampton and in the middle of the city. Some good pictures can be taken here walkable distance from West quay mall and city centre.

If you are walking around the city centre you will eventually come across the remains of this very old gate.

It's not like the biggest tourist attraction ever. It's nice to imagine how long it is but I would not recommend going to Southampton specially for this. The buildings around the Bargate are all modern which makes it kinda weird!
