As you arrive at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the stunning sleek, black lines of Britain's first iron-hulled, armoured warship, take your breath away.

Warrior, launched in 1860, was the pride of Queen Victoria's fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day and had a profound effect on naval architecture. Warrior was, in her time, the ultimate deterrent. Yet within a few years she was obsolete.

Restored and back at home in Portsmouth, Warrior now serves as a ship museum, monument, visitor attraction, private venue and more. Open all year round, we invite you to experience her for yourself.

Open daily from 10.00am except 24th, 25th & 26th December

Opens your eyes to maritime history, and is enjoyable to look around, but lacking in an audio guide or visitor information as you do not really have inclination to read the free leaflet give at reception - a great contrast to the excellent audio guide on the Victory tour. Clearly a wonderful restoration project and a tribute to the changeover... More

Warrior is a massive ship with lots to see and a collection of guides very eager to share with everyone what it was like on board and the history of the ship. Always worth visiting.

The ship was never involved in a battle and is very well preserved. There are volunteers/guides around the ship that can provide details and facts on the various areas. Take the time to go down to the lower decks and visit the vast engine room.

Visited with adult friends. Bought the annual ticket (and will return). We were not offered audio guides, but each guide on board proactively spoke to us and added detail. One even encouraged us to try a hammock; probably better suited to children but great fun trying!

A real highlight of the historic dockyard. The ship is large and you are allowed to freely walk over the ship without the need for a guide, which is very refreshing. The massive engine area was particularly interesting. Very much enjoyed by us and our 4 year old son.

This ship is BIG! it is also open to walk around everywhere, there are new things to see everywhere you look along with knowledgeable guides. It really is an impressive ship, definitely one to visit, overlooked by many, do so at your own loss!

Quite amazing piece of our nautical history, covering a time when big changes were happening, she is a sailing ship and a steam ship, fires canon balls and shells, caries flintlocks and revolvers, swards, muskets and rifles, totally brilliant.

I was lucky enough to celebrate my 60th birthday with friends and family on board Warrior some little time ago, so it was wonderful to be back reminiscing and enjoying the excellent tour once again. As always throughout the Dockyard complex , the guides were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable , helping to make the tour so interesting

Visited with my wife & daughter & enjoyed every minute. It`s worth visiting HMS Victory first then go aboard HMS Warrior & see the difference 50 years years made. Well worth spending some time on both ships. A word of warning though...watch your heads when going up & down stairs on board, if you`re over 5` tall you can easily... More
