The Mary Rose Museum is home to the Mary Rose and the thousands of artefacts that were recovered from the Solent. Built between 1509 and 1511, The Mary Rose was one of the first ships able to fire a broadside, and was a firm favourite of King Henry VIII. After a long and successful career, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology. After a 34 year conservation project, the Mary Rose is now fully on display within her purpose-built museum.

I'm not sure what we expected from this exhibit, but it wasn't what we found. It is put together incredibly well, with a phenomenal eye to storytelling. The ship itself is displayed magnificently. From the use of sound and light to video projections, it is a multi-dimensional experience. Being in the same air as the ship will take your breath... More

The dockyard has more or less something for everone. Even those not that interested in History will find the atmophere of the Historic ships absorbing. highlight being the Submarine in Gosport and being able to get aboard

Visited this with Basingstoke Probus Club. It was fantastic. The thought and work that has gone into this project is phenomenal. The ship could not be displayed in a better way. The people on duty were more than helpful and ready ro answer questions. Everyone should view this valuable part of our history.

Saw just about everything in the Historic Dockyard and this was my favorite part. The presentation of both the ship itself and all the artifacts, highlighting different crew members, was extremely well put together. The exhibit felt polished and clear, and the ship itself is like nothing else I'd seen before.

It's the first time I've visited the Mary Rose since the treatment of the hull was complete. It was very impressive, the artefacts are well laid out and the use of film projection onto the hull was brilliant. They'd even recreated a figure using the skull and computer. Would highly recommend this exhibition.

This was the fourth time we have visited the Mary Rose over the course of her recovery/preservation and this latest (final?) presentation is outstanding. The recommended time for the visit is two hours, but we spent three and a half hours there without realising how time had passed. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in history - nautical or... More

This was our first trip to see the remains of the war-ship 'Mary Rose'. In its new museum it looks fantastic and the displays were far better than I could have imagined. My wife used a pre-booked mobility scooter and enjoyed full access to all three levels by spacious lifts. The tour (we chose not to take a guided tour)... More

The whole experience is so well done that it seems a review will not do it the service it deserves, but I'll give it a go..... Situated within the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard site, inside a purpose build building that takes you through the life of this famous Tudor warship, from the ship herself, the crew and the salvaging and restoration.... If you are visiting Portsmouth and love history. Mary Rose exhibition in the dockyard is for you. The main exhibit of the ship is outstanding and the innovation used to display the ship alone is a talking point. Whether a visitor or a local this is so worth a visit.
