We are relatively new to the area, but love Rye and the surrounding countryside. The pictures in David Purdie's Gallery vividly depict the beauty of this area. I spent a very enjoyable and informative day on the Intermediate level Photography Course. It was well organised (even down to the coffee and pastries during a shoot) and David's knowledge and advice... More

A small gallery that showcases brilliant photographs of the landscape and local environment. The scale of the photographs draw you in to examine the detail, the texture and the wonderful colour. The compositions, balance tone are expertly controlled and the photographs well displayed. I could not afford a large print but bought several cards that will delight me whilst I... More

Bought a jigsaw based on his photographs of different doors in Rye. Sounds weird but by goodness it worked Some stunning photos - an accomplished man!

The photographs displayed in this gallery are a joy. The composition and detail are outstanding. Well worth a visit. If you can't afford a full size picture there are cards available too.

Purdie's prints are really fantastic. I visit Rye once a year and always visit Purdie's. This time it was to buy wonderful post cards. I have several framed prints on my walls. My favourite is of Mermaid Street looking downhill showing Jeake's House Hotel where I always stay. The prints always bring back happy memories of visiting Rye.

I love having a browse through this gallery, I now have a few prints from here and really must get them framed up and on the wall. There is always a picture that means something to someone! Mick

Like a lot of people I am a keen photographer but the standard in The Purdie Gallery is excellent. Local simple views are turned into works of art. If in Rye make sure you have a look (or indeed buy) There are card versions of most pictures for around £2.00.

I was drawn to the wonderful coastal photographs and bought a few greeting cards (some of which which I intend to frame). There is a raw beauty to the scenes and a lovely memory of my visit to Rye and surrounds. Worth a visit for gifts or just for yourself!

Passed this gallery of work by photographer David Purdie and had to pop inside. The window display had a beautiful canvas image of underneath Hastings Pier - wonderful textures and light in the picture. Inside there was another landscape with sheep, capturing the light so beautifully. And the prices were lower than expected. You can also buy posters and postcards... More

I really like David Purdie's work - I have a photo of fishing boats at Hastings over the fireplace. This gallery gives you the chance to view his work and buy anything from a card or jigsaw to a full sized print.
