About
As one of the United Kingdom's most famous beaches, Brighton Beach is busy all year round. Cool off in the nippy waters in the summer, or take a stroll along the pebbled shore on a chilly winter's afternoon. Kids and adults alike will love amusement rides at Palace Pier, while the futuristic i360 offers views from 450ft high.
You can't go wrong tucking into classic British fish and chips, but there is an assortment of casual and contemporary dining options to choose from. Top it off with an ice cream cone from one of the colorful kiosks that line the shore.

- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,811 contributionsGood place to take a dipWe spent some time on the beach at Brighton, we didn't even dream of swimming. However, the weather was moderately fine and many people were sitting on the beach enjoying the afternoon sun. The water did not look brilliant. but if the weather is warm next time we go to Brighton we will take our bathers and go for a dip. Then we can say we had a swim at Brighton Beach. Brighton Beach looked surprisingly broad, it must be popular when the sun is shiningVisited January 2023Written 21 March 2023
- Queen_BeeStourbridge, United Kingdom20 contributionsBest culture in England.Just WOW. You could walk around Brighton all day for a week and still find new things to do! All along the beach front there are shops and places to eat, the culture is wonderful, warm and friendly. There is every type of person here, no bias. It's exactly how everywhere should be. Every evening, loads of people gather on the beach together and watch the sunset. No rubbish is left. Beautiful.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 April 2023
- holidayhoney65Chessington, United Kingdom1,192 contributionsLovely morning walk from Brighton to HoveAfter a night at the Hilton we decided to have an early morning walk from our hotel along the prom from The Hilton down to Hove. It was a windy morning but the walk was refreshing and there is lots to see along the route as well as runners, dog walkers and fellow walkers wishing you a good morning. A great start to a Sunday morning.Visited March 2023Written 10 April 2023
- S4061YTcarmenl2 contributionsVisit the pier, beach okayIf you don’t like crowds, then avoid when it’s sunny. The walk from the train station is around 20mins, plenty of shops along the walking route to pick up snacks and lunch if you prefer to eat on the beach. There are also a lot of food outlets to sit down for lunch or dinner. The beach itself is just okay. It is pebbled/stoned so wear comfortable footwear. There are also some slopes on the beach so take your time walking down. Prices for the pier funfair are quite expensive. A days entry is £30, or you can pay per ride which is about £4. I would also say bring coins with you if you wish to visit the arcade, as the cash machines charge for withdrawal. Overall nice day out, but the beach is not the main attraction.Visited May 2023Written 20 May 2023
- JTJDUnited Kingdom1,041 contributionsNice beach…Huge shingle beach that is clean & well patrolled by staff on quad bikes + Lifeguards in the season. During our visit to Brighton it was too cold for laying on the beach or swimming but I’m sure given the weather it would be really nice. The beach did look to shelve steeply in parts so maybe not suitable for children.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 August 2023
- Chascha GöldingLowestoft, United Kingdom8 contributionsClean and beautifulA clean beach with excellent views. Lots of space to sunbathe and swim in the sea. There are lots of attractions along the seafront and plenty of places to eat. Just a shame about the pebbles! Overall, it’s a classic place to go :)Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 August 2023
- Lala CPilar, Argentina57 contributionsBeautiful city!!It’s a marvelous place to spend the day. 1.15 hours from London by train. Pintoresque, colorful, lovely colour of water. Beaches are not sand but big pebbles which makes it very special though not the greatest to lie on. Have been twice and would definitely repeatVisited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 September 2023

On one street I have to move the car at certain times of day which interrupts the whole day. Every town in Sussex seems to use a different parking app. I parked at ‘Brighton airport’ downloaded another app and paid. I still ended with a fine. We had a brilliant 2 nights stay at Brighton and absolutely love it there. Although, on this trip there were a lot of police everywhere as my pictures show. Which made us a little uneasy but didn't effect our trip.

Took a stroll along the prom today. Sunny day but sea was choppy. Some OK shops under the arches, but others were tacky.
A good walk though.

Feels like the council don't want visitors, with extortionate parking at £5ph more like a fine than a few, would rather go elsewhere.
Sadly for the locals, it doesn't look like all this money is being invested back into their environment.

Brighton UK is an largely an adult town with active night life and a few distractions for children. The beach is the most obvious and has 600 million stones all very different and worth collecting a few. The pier has amusements. The toy museum is worth a half hour and the city natural museum with stuffed animals provides exposure to world worldwide wildlife. The electric tram would be fun for children. maybe a day or two with children.just my thoughts.best wishes.
