Beautiful clean beach. Most romantic setting for loved up couples + thin sand, south facing and perfect for sunbathing and building sand castles with the children. Also, ice cream boat pops over during school holidays.

Miles and miles of sand - and if you walk along from the main access points there is plenty of room for children to play and adults to rest / sun bathe etc

a very clean wide sandy beach with many beach huts and good facilities with toilets, beach cafes some open in January. A land train that runs even on winter weekends and a good pier

Weird. Poole Bay stretches for EIGHT MILES of fabulous sandy beaches, starting at Southbourne in the East, ending with glorious, glamorous Sandbanks in the West - and in between is a muddle of Council franchises, horrible railings, endless drive-by's by parking officials and 'blokes-in-vans' pretending to be working somewhere on the promenade - that is Bournemouth. A lot of the... More

Bournemouth boasts 7 miles of golden sand. The beach is totally divorced from the road so it is very child safe apart from 1 hour between 5pm and 6pm. Between Bournemouth and Boscombe pier (1mile) is the most popular therefore busy. Turning towards Boscombe pier and going further East is less populated but just as good. There is also ample... The beach is at its best out of season. It doesnt look like a campsite or theme park, just sand, sea and a few local visitors. It can be a bit pebbly due to tidal deposits but shell hunting is great. The water is inviting but too cold even for a paddle. A great time to enjoy beautiful beaches devoid... More

January is not known for beach use but on a sunny crisp day, a short stroll is great for blowing away the cobwebs and it has a gentle gradient to the waters edge. There are a lot of beach huts on the undercliff and I believe some are available to rent/hire - probably contact the council to check.
