i have just returned home, after 5 sunny days and 4 entertaining nights on board the Pont-Aven, ferry/ cruise ship to Santander and Portsmouth, from Plymouth, operated by Brittany Ferries. standard cabins are small, but comfortable, with all en-suite facilities. the cafeteria food is limited, but not too expensive..my own personal gripe was that it was impossible to buy fresh... First time travelling with dog and car over to Spain. Very efficient embarkation. Room clean but very basic - no frills even down to a soap dispenser on the bathroom wall. To be fair we did choose the economy ferry although would maybe opt for something better next time. Not much to do other than sit in the bar or... More

Of all the ports that Brittany Ferries use, Plymouth is the poor relation. The staff seem to have very little idea how to manage the vehicles both leaving and arriving. Every time we use Plymouth, the staff have to try and move vehicles closer together, after they have all been parked. If they had someone placing them in the correct... More

departed 35 minutes late from santander. arrived portsmouth 45 minutes late. i can only describe this boat as an old old tug. so slow..it is boring...the french waiters and bar staff speak to you in french expecting for you to speak back in french ( i don,t want or learn to speak this horrible language)..the only cafe on board opened... I travelled alone on the ferry. I felt safe and the staff were very helpful. The cabin was comfortable, not large but adequate. After all the announcements (20mins or so) all was quiet and I had a good sleep. The ship Alarm woke me up and I had time to shower and breakfast before we docked. This crossing was calm... More

Parking nearby, drive slowly to avoid taking route to freights! Check in easy. Ferry clean and well organised. Worth extra for cabin but plenty of seats to relax or sleep in. Wi-Fi limited so download movies etc beforehand. Cabin impressive, twin beds, fruit and biscuits in room. TV and excellent shower. Best of all is the buffet. It's extremely impressive,... More

We Are members of both French and Spanish Travel Clubs but usually only use the Spanish Crossings. Of the Three Ships mostly used on the Spanish Routes. Cap Finistere is our Favourite (I wish the good points of all three could be rolled into one). We have just returned from Santander (Bilbao is Best for us but we have to... More

Excellent staff to see your bikes settled in for the crossing. Bit of squeeze getting out past panniers but you can rest knowing your stuff is secure. Good cabins with clean bathroom and shower, quality linen, toiletries and towels, very comfortable. Plenty of hangouts on board and stuff to keep you entertained, including whale/dolphin watching. Patchy free wifi, im sure... More

We used the ferry to go and come back from France very good crossing and facilities I do think however that the quality of the food has gone down since our last visit. Pint of beer cheaper than mainland though!
