I once walked past, watching a bride and groom enjoying their wedding reception on the beautiful white sand and dining from the excellent cafe adjoining Porthgwidden. I don't believe there could have ever been a better place to celebrate. This little cove has beautiful sand, blue water, convenient parking (Island carpark) and an excellent cafe and restaurant attached. A little... More

Out of season Porthgwidden is a delight, the sands are clean & unspoilt, not so many people visit & it's lovely to wander across the front of the colourful beach huts, lost in thought, with the waves crashing & stunning viws out to see. A real place to relax & regroup. On this occasion I didnlt stop for a snack... More

There are beaches with less stone, more heat, clearer water and the setting sun. There are beaches with michelin starred cafes, harbouring super yachts, exotic coral and exciting times. Porthgwidden Beach is my favourite beach in the world. There are rocks to pick mussels and hunt crabs. It has enough sand and sea for an evening dip. It has ample... More

Small beach with beach-huts and cafe-bar regular Seal sightings in the surf. Cafe menu excellent and available for functions and weddings. Nice easy walk from St. Ives and circular route back through the old parts of St. Ives through rambling rows of fishermen's cottages.

This lovely little beach is an absolute gem which is often a lot more sheltered than the other beaches in St Ives. It offers golden sands, with rock pools on each side, there is a lovely beach café & toilets within a two minute walk. You might even see a seal here as they love to play around the rocks.... More

You've booked your accommodations in or near Porthgwidden, this is your handy beach, very often you see people sculpting the sand, always fascinating and enjoyable, it's the beach you arrive after walking round the Island, great sea views, and the coastline depending on your location, handy for the town facilities

Great for children quite sheltered and flat though reasonable ridge today - North West wind! Better when south westerly. Our boys love it - aged 6 and 3. Nice cafe too.

Porthgwidden beach is tucked away around the corner from Smeatons Pier. It's a little jewel of a beach. If you are lucky you may see a bride and groom having pictures taken (we did), or you may see a seal gambolling in the sea just off the beach (we did). A really lovely little spot to visit as part of... More
