Some beautiful stained glass (my main interest), and we were lucky enough to be there when they were filling the cathedral with music from a mystery play rehearsal. Worth taking a tour to the top of the tower if you can stand heights and are...More

We visited at a time when the people of Chester were preparing for their Mystery Play, which is only once every 5 years, so some of the Cathedral wasn't accessible to the public. But it's a huge place so there is still plenty to see....More

Great from the outside. Best viewed from the city walls. Queen and Megan co-iincided their visit with mine. So they can tell you how it looks inside! But I will catch it next time. Go and check it out!More

'kskontour' - many thanks for your review. Alas, Her Majesty The Queen was not inside the cathedral during your visit. She was actually opening 'Storyhouse' - one of our cultural neighbours here in Chester. Nonetheless, thank you for your glowing outside review and recommendation. We...More

Must see - beautiful windows & the most lovely cloister garden. We went during a service, which was a bit limiting, but we didn’t lose out.

I'm not a religious person but I thought I'd go to the cathedral mainly due to the fact that it is free. Was pleasantly surprised as the tour guides were very knowledgeable and were clearly passionate about the building. Unfortunately there was a lot of...More

Unlike many other cathedrals Chester Cathedral gives free entry and simply asks for donations. A small but very interesting cathedral and worth a visit.

Well worth a visit. The cathedral has an interesting history so allow plenty of time to wander round and take it all in and sit awhile outside.

I certainly did use my camera. Especially on the Lego project. They are aiming to build a model of the whole of the cathedral in Lego. Pay a £1 and you can add a brick - or more if you're flush! It's really coming on and is... More
