While visiting Chester in the UK, we walked a small area of the wall, right above the pedestrian area of the "Rows", shopping district (neighborhood) distinguished by Tudor-style half-timber buildings. We saw the Chester Cathedral, a local artist at work, birds coming in for a landing at a "Bird Hotel" and had scrumptious ice-cream when we came down again via... More

I loved the walls - a great way to check out the history of Cheshire while walking round the city. Parts are being repaired but diversion signs are all in place .

Nice walk, you over see the town. Now they renovate some pieces from the wall.Just a little bit climbing up and down on your trip. But it is worth it .

A great way to spend an hour or so, an interesting walk with some great views of city as you go. Information boards to read if you want too on the way round.

We did the wall the day we arrived and I thanked it helped us to gain our bearings for the rest of the weekend. A lovely way to find your way around and see the historical sights Chester has. The clock, racecourse, cathedral and high street and among the things you will see when following the wall around. A must... More

We walked around these walls on a glorious spring day and it was lovely. Even though it's in the centre of Chester, it's a lovely distraction from the busy city and has a lot of character. Definitely worth a wander if you're about and have time!

If you want to see all of Chester - roman history, cathedral, high street, river - walk along the wall you see everything and there are lots of points you can exit and re-enter the wall whenever it suits - furthermore the wall is lovely - if not maybe a little narrow for walking together but ultimately it's a bit... The fact that the old city walls of Chester still exist is a great thing and attracts many to the city. It can be a pleasant experience and not too taxing (some steps) and can be completed in an hour or so. The only negative thing that I would say is that it can become very busy in peak times... More

On a return visit to Chester my wife and I decided to walk the wall and very enjoyable it was. Unfortunately two thirds round it started raining but it did not spoil the fascinating experience and we learnt a lot more about this interesting historical town. We have promised ourselves to return on a sunny day later this year. We... More
