We parked in a large public (chargeable) car park near the SS Great Britain attraction and the waterfront where there were several companies offering tours round the port. We chose the Bristol Packet group and were taken by barge around this large port and had an excellent running commentary on what to see on our 3/4 hour tour. Light refreshments... More

We decided to go for a walk before dinner, and in a hour we visited most part of the docks, and we liked it. There are beautiful multicolored houses on the hill, the ss great Britain, that you can also visit inside, and in general it was a pleasant stroll to know this city a little better.. Then we went... If you want a quiet stroll along the banks of the river Avon, Bristol Docks are not for you. I visited on Saturday lunchtime and was amazed by the vast crowds, all was hustle and bustle! There are boat trips along the dockside and across the docks. There is little evidence of the old dockland - (probably due to WWII... More

A great area to wander about, some amazing old buildings displaying the 'Byzantine' style which is everywhere in this area. The entire dock areas have been mainly redeveloped, but thankfully, mainly sympathetically. Lots of boats which are bars, restaurants or music venues/clubs. A great, free wander.

The museum of transport by the docks was fantastic for my children. My son liked the boats on the quay and the old cranes.

Once the council thought the docks would make a fine inner ring road. So good they failed because this is a lovely space and more and more is now walkable - Welsh Back needs a little more work. Trouble is the Docks are so popular that the infrastructure cannot cope. Litter is a real problem and will get worse as... More

Took the family to the city docks for a nice walk. Stopped off for lunch, but more of a walk, stopped for a drink and then got an ice cream. Boats everywhere, beautiful sunshine, blue sky and had an excel lent time. Easy parking but so close to the bus stops.

We live in Bristol and frequently go to the docks for a walk. Amazing vibe, very friendly and frequently has lots of activities going on. If you are a runner, it's a great place to run around in the early morning.

Fond memories of these docks which never fade. Great restaurants on these docks and often entertainment in the area from food festivals to firework displays and musical events.
