Overview
More
Windmill Hill City Farm was formed in 1976 by a volunteer group of local residents determined to see a piece of inner city wasteland put to more productive use, giving the local community the opportunity to experience farming in the heart of the city. It offers educational, recreational and therapeutic facilities and activities for local people including a range of farmyard animals, community gardens, picnic area, café serving home-made food, an adventure playground, community building with meeting spaces, a five-a-side pitch, environmental and craft-based courses, and a nursery for children aged from nine months to five years old.

Not been here in many, many years but it really is worth a visit. The hard work that has been put in to make it for all the family is amazing. Plenty for children of all ages to enjoy - animals, pond life, walks through...More

Great little visit here. The play area is a bonus! There's a few animals to see which is great in the city centre! Only gripe is that no one was doing talks or demos or even able to feed the animals. Only the schools seemed...More

I've been to other city farms and found there isn't much to do there and struggle to spend more than 30mins there with a toddler however, found this place had much more areas to explore. Great place. Lots of cute animals. Little gem in the...More

It's great to see city farms - such a contrast in the middle of unrelenting buildings, and this site is probably the best-organised one in Bristol. By the way, despite its name and the address given above, it's not really in Windmill Hill or Totterdown...More

Free farm entry. Variety of animals for the kids to look at as well as doing events there. Cafe is being refurbished (Feb 2017) but food is tasty and reasonably priced - the plans show an impressive new cafe which will make this place even...More

We visited with our friends and their toddler - it's great for little kids to look at farm animals, especially when they've got babies. There's a few places for them to play too. And given it's free (although it's good to give a donation!), it...More

It is interesting to find a farm in the centre of south Bristol. Great place to take a young family, with good food in the cafe.

This farm is free to visit and has enough on offer to be able to spend around 2-3 hours there with a young child. The food is good in the cafe and we do recommend it.

I went to visit the farm with my boyfriend. It was good but we finished the visit in less than an hour. I feel it would be better with young children though. It is free to enter and walk around. The cafe sells some lovely...More
