We recently took our five year old granddaughter to see The Railway Children, performed in the open air on the platform, complete with a real steam train puffing into the station to co-incide with various events in the story. It was absolutely superb and an evening we shall remember for a long time. The acting was excellent - the actors... More

Wifey and I decided to visit a line not previously visited for a change. Travelling by car we chose a mid week, mid summer day to go and had no particular problems finding Bitton station in the outer suburbs of Bristol. After a refreshing cup of tea and BLT sandwich courtesy of the fine station tea room we sat on... More

A group of us opted for a steam trip with afternoon tea for £19. We all arrived in good time and took our places on Martha - a first class dining carriage very nicely laid for afternoon tea (with a glass of Prosecco). We all departed for Oldland (engine changed ends), then departed for Avon Riverside (passing through Bitton) then... More

This is such a lovely railway. The only slight complaint that I had was that the steam train that was running had most of the coaches filled with dinning cars and only one coach that was able to carry passengers, which I was disappointed about and travelled on the diesel train. This was a very enjoyable experience thought and will... More

Lovely nostalgic train experience, wonderful old station with trains and carriages to match. The total length of the line can't be more than a couple of miles, and including waiting each of the 2 'stations' the total travel time is just under an hour. You can get off at each stop but there are no facilities, so your options are... More

The steam train appeals to both our 5 and 9 year old children and is good value for money with a family ticket. This is valid for multiple rides so it's possible to have an extended stay. Getting out to watch the engine being switched over for turn arounds is always fun. The cafe / restaurant is also great for... More

We were bought this trip by our grandchildren to celebrate our birthdays. The meal was so good and the beef was melt in your mouth(complements to the chef )! Our only negative was we hoped the train would have gone further rather than up and down on the same route.

Once again spent many hours enjoying this venue. Watching the steam train chugging back and forth and just relaxing with a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake is just a great way to while away a few hours. Station is spotlessly clean as is the cafe/restaurant. Pity we decided to walk the track to the nearest pub... More

Visited for the 1st time the other day, well worth a visit. Went for a walk along the cycle track then a ride on the steam train.

This heritage railway currently only has three stations, two of which are Oldland Common and Avon Riverside, stations set in the countryside with no convenient road access. The railway's headquarters are at Bitton where their limited stock is held and which is easily accessible from both Bath and Bristol. They provide steam and diesel hauled services with a number of...
