Blaise Hamlet is virtually undetectable from the road. It is a little known delight near to the Blaise Castle Estate ( a great place for a walk with the dog!) Originally built for workers on the estate it showcases various different styles of cottage in a tranquil setting. These are still lived in today and are very sought after and... More

Quite reluctant to review this place as it is tucked away quite well and a lovely peaceful place to visit as not many people know about this fairy tale selection of houses. You need to be aware that people do live in the quaint collection of houses and you are in their front garden area. Some seating available so lovely... More

This is well worth a visit if you're in the area. Each cottage is worth a visit on it's own. The hamlet is very picturesque.

Don't get me wrong this is a beautiful cute little hamlet of very old almshouses. However, you go in, walk around a close of (mainly private) little cottages and you walk out again. It's a worthwhile short look but it won;'t take up much time and isn't a big activity.

Reminded me of The Shire. :) Lovely old buildings to look at and a short 5 min walk if you're around the Blaise castle area.

This is a National Trust 'village' built for Blaise estate workers originally in 1811. I went here recently for the first time with my elderly father. We had a bit of trouble actually finding it as it is hidden away from the main street - in fact, what I didn't realise was that it is actually not a street at... More

We have Lilliput Lane models of 2 of these quaint houses, but I was very disappointed to go recently to find little colour, grass uncut, and a rather down-at-heel feel. Perhaps they are better in the summer? Unique, though, with unusual, tall chimneys.

All the buildings were individually built and though very quiet and relaxing, they are all lived in.

How could I have ever missed this place? It is serene and a wonderful place to visit - all the more so as it is actually lived in. All town planners should be made to visit this seemingly ideal living space and housing

Tucked away just 5 minutes walk from the Blaise Castle estate, this little hamlet takes you back in time. It's secluded, peaceful and makes an enjoyable little interlude to walk round or to pause and meditate.
