Beautiful, but lack of information.

I really enjoyed this as part of a larger tour, but it's good to be aware of a few issues. First- There is a VERY steep climb up to the actul cave from the car park. We were... read more

Located at Lassithi Plateau (I recommend to drive and stop there also). Very nice, my 1st experience in this kind of caves at all. Not the biggest one (as much I have read-watched about caves) but good to start to discover caves' world I think. From parking area to the cave there is a little walk up to mountain but... More

I really enjoyed this as part of a larger tour, but it's good to be aware of a few issues. First- There is a VERY steep climb up to the actul cave from the car park. We were told by our guide 150 m. Not 150 m straight up a very steep, winding path. As my partner has health and... More

So, we got here not knowing much. Is a tourist MUST when in the Lesithi area. A good 15 minutes walk uphill so mind you on a hot day one should start early.... the path is paved but no shade so..... Entrance is 6euro, and than you walk down 100 stairs into the cave and climb up the same. Cave... More

We visited this as part of a day tour with Sparrow Travel. The guide was excellent and we saw Lisithi Plateau as well. The cave is stunning and the walk up to it, although intitally a little steep is not a problem - there's a clear path all the way.The cave itself has lots of steps but the walkway is... More

The cave is an interesting place to visit, combined with the views and the unusual aspect of the Lasithi valley well worth a visit. However it is quite remote so would suggest combining the trip with something else in the area as unless you are on the east side of the island it is well over an hours drive from... More

Definitely worth renting a car to go and see! Although the hill walking up to the top is hard work it is worth it one you are up there. Steps down and up through the cave which are wet and slippery but there is a hand rail available and slight lighting. Wouldn't recommend for anyone that struggles with walking as... More

The walk up is well laid out and similar to walking up a long hill. It's hard to navigate as there are a few turns to get there but it's worth the trip. The cave is interesting and beautiful - this adds to the palace Knossis visit.

Was told originally that it was thought to be Zeus' birthplace, later found its one of many caves Zeus was thought to be born in. Beautiful cave nonetheless and very interesting to see and be in. Quite a steep hill to walk up, donkeys are available but they looked pretty sad amd worn out. €8 for a ticket into the... More

Went to this cave on a classics university trip. Going up we went up the step uneven rocks on the right and while not dangerous they are slippery in winter so not suggested for people with an injury. The view from the top is amazing. We got in for free on a free day (Sunday). The path down to the... More

Lots of steps, which were pretty treacherous in the rain, it was out of season so no donkeys, but not a problem if you were careful. €2.50 to park the car & €8 to visit the cave, so could get pricey for a large family. The cave is very pretty, still lots of stalactites and stalagmites with a pool where... More
