Overview
More
These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens and National Historic Site of Canada started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

These gardens were on my must see list on this trip of a lifetime holiday to Vancouver Island. There is no doubting that the gardens are immaculate and spectacular but in a soulless, regimented way. With all that space and all those gardeners on hand...More

We booked this through our cruise line only out of convenience and didn't want to have to deal with finding a taxi late at night. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and smells were wonderful. Coming from hot Texas it was a joy to walk through...More

Plan to spend about two hours strolling these carefully maintained blooming gardens. The gardens are laid out in such a way that you are encouraged to appreciate each area before moving on to the next. Should you need to sit and rest a bit, there...More

Plan on spending 2-3 hours hear. They have concerts at 8pm every night during the summer, and fireworks on Saturday. Enjoyed the gardens, but felt the admission pricing was a bit much at $31/adult.

Butchers clearly had a philanthropic vision and went with it, producing beautifully laid out gardens in a wonderful part of Vancouver Island. There are any number of different areas to display the diversity of species that will grow in this area, which are sometime laid...More

This place is beautiful. My son took me to to eat here before we leave victoria for afternoon tea, we loved the flowers and the foods there. The only downside is that the restaurant is inside of the garden so you have to pay to...More
