These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National...

These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National Historic Site of Canada, started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

Look, this place is a must-visit. You'll know this when you get there, as you are overrun by bus load after bus load of some of the most ignorant tourists on the planet. If you are looking for a sedate, lovely walk among beautiful nature, this is not the place for you. It is madness in high season, whatever hour... More

This was an outstanding visit to a historic garden. Different garden styles were on display. You can spend a day there. We especially liked the Japanese gardens, and the boat ride. Boat ride is extra but worth the money. Side note: the gardens outside Oh Canada are based on the Butchart Gardens.

This is one of the best gardens I have ever seen. It's very well maintained.you can see a variety of flowers and is a treat to plant lovers. One can spend a minimum of 4 to 5 hours admiring the colorful baskets and beds of flowers. There is also a souvenir shop and a restaurant.A must place to visit while in Victoria.

Three reviews all rolled into one trip. Hard to do each separate so I thought I should make this a combined big one. Our vacation would be in May of ((1992 not 2016)) this year rather than August like many of those you might read in the past. That was because it was our 25th anniversary. So Alaska would become... We were given a gift pass and would have not gone otherwise. The Christmas theme was wonderfully done. My husband was very pleased with the effect, a rather non butchart garden type, and has spread the word.

We saw the gardens at night, decorated for Christmas. Just wonderful. Kids loved to search for all elements of the "12 days of Christmas" song. The carolers and musicians were nice to listen to!

Do not miss Butchart Gardens. My wife and I visit every time when in Vancouver area. I have never been during the Christmas season, but want to try and arrange sometime as I hear they have a beautiful display. We enjoy the walk, and all the beautiful plants and trees. We take the ferry, so take our time and enjoy... More

Whether you love gardens or just don't care about them (like me) the Butchard gardens will for sure bring the little kid in you. I went there multiple times, all four seasons, and every visit brought me back to a childhood book, feeling, scent, mood.... it is hard to describe,.... this gardenis truly enchanted. Got to see it to believe... More

The Butchart Gardens are truly a beautiful site to see. The vast array of different plants and flowers from around the world are truly incredible. The grounds are well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly. The entire area is beautiful and serene.

I buy an annual membership for Butchart because I like it that much (and live nearby) Unbelievably beautiful setting and a unique experience. This is a third or fourth generation family owned business and their pride and attention to detail shines through. The garden is built near an inlet, in a former limestone quarry - in the summer there is... More
