Lovely village 😊
May 2021 • Family
The Hall and grounds were closed due to covid restrictions but the village is amazing. We took 3 children who loved walking around, looking at the history and ducks 🤣 . The traditional sweet shop was open and its an awesome place selling classic sweets, fudge and ice creams. It's a fascinating village steeped in history and intrest. Beautiful place

Mesmerising!
Dec 2019 • Couples
We visited today to see the Hall decorated with a Christmas carol theme, and would thoroughly recommend.
After a warm welcome from Sir Richard, we had a leisurely walk around the decorated rooms, which were absolutely mesmerising. The work which has gone into the creations is amazing, and we can't wait to return next year.
Tomorrow is the final opening date for this year's Christmas extravaganza though, so be quick!

Simply Lovely
Nov 2019
Our first visit to Tissington Hall at Christmas & we weren't disappointed. A warm welcome was given to all visitors on arrival, to match the beautiful fires glowing in the glow of fairy lights & Christmas trees. Each room beautifully decorated, a lovely tribute to the soldiers of WW1 was very touching. We've never seen Frozen, but the themed room was beautiful, a real sight to behold. The house itself was very homely we thought, we are looking forward to coming back to visit next summer, to hear about it's history in more detail. Thank you to everyone for making us feel very welcome. Not forgetting the staff in the café for the lovely tea cakes & prompt service. Well done. See you next year.

Stunning
Dec 2019 • Friends
Christmas at it's best, all the rooms are beautifully decorated and great care has been taken so that each room is more spectacular than the last. This was my second visit to Tissington, the first was in the summer when the gardens looked lovely. Sir Richard takes care to make all visitors feel welcome. Nice cafe, lovely village. Make sure you visit the butcher if you want good meat. Well done to everyone for arranging such a good event. Free parking, check opening times before you go.

Christmas with ghost stories
Nov 2019
I went here this evening as part of an organised trip with my friends’ choir. The hall was beautifully decorated and the dark evening added to the atmosphere. Later there were ghost stories read to us in the hall in front of a raging fire while we were served mince pies and mulled wine. Sir Richard himself took us around and answered my questions about the art. The whole experience was truly magical. Each room was decorated tastefully and related to a specific Christmas carol. One in particular included a World War One theme and the carol of course ,was Silent Night. The choir I was with sang. So very moving.
Please visit here this Christmas if you are able. Very friendly people, gorgeous decorations and encompasses the meaning of Christmas! Loved it!

Excellent Rose Borders, Average House Tour
Aug 2019
As members of HHA we made a specific point of visiting Tissington Hall during our stay in Derbyshire. On arrival we had just missed the first tour of the house - but then had plenty of time to tour the splendid garden, especially enjoying the magnificent rose borders.
Our Guided House Tour took over an hour and was a bit "pedestrian" and long-winded, given the number of rooms you actually saw.
The House is situated close to a lovely village - which easily warrants a walkabout.
We tried the nearby cafe for lunch - but were faced with very long queues and decided to move on - to another nearby HHA property.

Dear BobandJosie Thankyou for your message. Which day did you visit Tissington Hall? Perhaps you'd like to contact the Estate Office direct so that we can discuss? In August the village does get very busy and sometimes there are queues at the tearooms but we do try to manage them as best we can. I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes Yours Sir Richard
