Splendid upon its height as it looks down on the village, set in the wonderful Peak District countryside. Centuries of culture, history and faith.

This would be the perfect place to have a traditional marriage ceremony and Tissington Hall cater for large wedding receptions.

I am not religious but do like old chuches and the history, this is a nice neat church, and if you got as far as Tissington worth a look round.Interests me...St Marys Church, Tissington Village
St Mary's church, Tissington dates back to Norman times- records show it was established by 1227 and probably built some time around 1100. The tower has walls about 4 feet thick at the base and one of the original windows may still be seen on the south side. The belfry contains 3 bells.

Certainly worth a look, beautiful feel to it. The inside keeps much of the original charm and woodwork while the nave is really pretty.

Worth spending 15 mins having a walk and this very old church. The font was particularly interesting having stone carvings around it. It is has a charming small altar.

This is a very impressive squat and robust Norman Church which appears to have been built more like a castle than a place of worship. The design of the church indicates the violent times in which the church was built.

Visited as a part of the Well Dressing.
Most attractive village forming a circular all village walk- of which the church in its elevated position is one of the major features.
Attractive churchyard but if church is open the Noah’s Ark window is rare- if not unique in its choice of subject.

Tiny church which is so peaceful with some wonderful stained glass windows. Wander around the grave stones (find the Titanic head stone) and then sit and enjoy views across to the Hall.

Lovely little church with some super stained glass windows. Nice setting on an elevated site overlooking the Hall. Peaceful and atmospheric. Well worth going to see if you are in the area.
