We visited Ilam Park on Wednesday 1st June with our family of mixed ages.
This site was beautiful, such a peaceful and relaxing park with magnificent views. The weather was a little wet on our arrival but this did not deter us from exploring and we were quite sheltered on the walks around.
We visited the cafe afterwards and the staff were extremely accommodating, as it was still raining, the staff offered to bring our food and drinks down to the indoor seating area as we had our dog with us.
The food was fantastic, just what was needed after a busy day walking Dovedale and then the Ilam site as well. It was fantastic to have some great vegan options on the menu as well, something that is not always easy to find.
Can't wait to revisit.

A very pleasant visit in the sunshine. Great views and walks in an interesting and engaging park setting. Would recommend although the parking is expensive for non National trust members.

One of the most beautiful spots in the country, the car park is £4..50 but is well worth a visit for the views and a walk along the river manifold, there is a lovely cafe, a beautiful church, and a youth hostel, go see yourself

Lovely place. Big carpark, although remember if you are not a national trust member you'll need plenty of change to be able to park as it doesn't except cards.
Great little cafe with stunning views. Like the fact you can walk as little or as long as you want. You could even park here and walk to the stepping stones if your feeling energetic. Nice little church, river, and scenery to look at, would definitely come here again.

Despite being one of the smaller National Trust estates that we have visited, it provided us with some decent views and a nice walk, alongside offering a much-needed break from our day-long trek around the area. Exactly what we've come to expect from the National Trust.

We visited on a dry February day inbetween storms. Had an issue as didn't have my membership card and the lovely lady at the book shop helped me out. The walk was lovely, some pretty views and a nice spot for a picnic. The children enjoyed the compulsory pooh sticks at the bridge. Pretty snowdrops along the walk.

My wife & I visited here whilst on a weeks holiday in Derbyshire. The park is well maintained, the toilets are clean & the car parking is easy to reach. We wondered around the grounds but where disappointed that the footpaths where not marked out. We wanted to walk to Dovedale but were advised against this because the Stepping Stones were under water and the path was flooded in places. We visited the Church in the park & enjoyed the beauty of the stained glass windows & the peace & quiet of God's house. As we wanted refreshments we went to the cafe. The young lady in the cafe was very friendly & chatty. The food, breakfast baps, was excellent, as was the cakes, lovely & fresh & the coffee. A most enjoyable snack. Due to the boggy conditions after all the rain we decided to come back later in the year when it should be a lot drier.

Hello - for the pay and display car park, can you pay by card? Or are there cashpoints nearby?!? Thank you.

Hi
You have to pay at the NT Shop, however not until it opens.
If you are clever you could find parking in the village and walk up - about 5 minutes and on level gravel pathways.
If you are NT Members then you just need to get a ticket from the shop - non payment.
Does anyone know the postcode to use for the car park? Or is this clearly signposted? Thank you.

We went on an organised Range led walk - worth looking into usually 11am on a Monday and Friday. Leaving from outside the shop courtyard. There is a 2km or 3km across the fields mostly, some walkers had their dogs - must be on leads where there are livestock.

Does anyone know what time the site is open till at night? What's the latest you can arrive?

It's correct that the National Trust shop and tea room close between 4pm and 5pm (depending on the time of year), but that the grounds of Ilam Park remain open for everyone to enjoy all day, every day.

hi how suitable is the paths for pushchairs
NationalTrustPeak
Peak District, UK1 contribution
Hello Lisa,
Some of the paths are tarmac, but the majority are compacted stone or grass, so as long as you don't mind a few slopes and grassy slopes you can have a good walk with a pushchair. You can also walk from Ilam Park past the church and into the village with a pushchair.
Hope you enjoy your visit!
