We had an AWESOME vacation. Excellent place to stay and experience the real Finnish culture. We did river floating, ice fishing, snowshoe walking, reindeer feeding and ofcourse the most fun activity of all: snowmobiling (introduction and trip to the Russian border). The trip to the Russian border really is a must do! You drive through the most beautiful winter landscape you've ever seen with very high trees completely covered in snow which become spectacular sculptures. The speed is also quite a bit higher (if you want) and when crossing the lakes they allow you to go full throttle (101 kmh measured on GPS :-). All guides are very kind and have lots of knowledge. I can also recommend the breakfast. Totally awesome holiday and a well earned 5 star review for Ruka Safaris!

My partner and I booked an ice fishing experience with Ruka Safari’s and could not recommend it enough. We were very lucky and ended up being the only booking for this experience, so had our wonderful guide Giovanni all to ourselves. From start to finish the experience was really special. We set out to a lake close by to drill into the ice, and began fishing. Giovanni was incredibly knowledgable and so friendly, and we were lucky enough to catch some fish! We wanted a completely traditional experience so decided to eat one of the fish we caught. Giovanni made a fire for us in a little hut a short walk away from the river, where we enjoyed a coffee and a sweet bun. He then expertly prepared and cooked our fish for us, which was really tasty! We cannot thank Giovanni enough for making our experience so special and unique, it’s something that I don’t think we will ever forget.
Recommend: Definitely take advantage of the suits, boots, socks etc on offer as it will get really cold when you’re actually ice fishing.

Highly recommend this company. We went ice fishing today with them and our tour guide, Kai, was absolutely amazing!
We took our three year old who really enjoyed it and was allowed to ride in the sledge on the way there and our guide answered loads of questions, told some stories and explained everything really well. We caught lots of fish and enjoyed a sweet bun and hot juice afterwards 😊 thank you so much!

Booked and prepaid a family rafting adventure and it proved to be everything we were looking for. Easygoing and very reliable staff took us safely through the white waters of Kitkajoki. I and my husband got to dig in the rafting, and our 8 yo enjoyed the ride and splashes. Highly recommended and huge thanks to Sami and Kai for making our adventure a success.

We have had a very good experience with Ruka Safaris.
We did a snow shoe tour with Carry and she told us a lot about the forest, nature and Finland. She is a very good guide.
We also did a snowmobile tour which was very cool and they also arranged a husky tour for us which was amazing.
During the husky tour we could drive with the dogs ourselves.
The reindeer activity was also nice but was a bit touristy. The drive with the reindeer sledge was very very short like 1 round on their farm so that was a bit disappointed but we liked to see the reindeer and to learn more about them!
Ruka safaris is a great organization to discover Finland with. They are all so friendly and kind. They made our experience especial!
I would 100% recommend them. Also the clothes that we got were very good quality!!

Our group of 10 participated in different activities with this organisation: snowmobile tour, ice fishing, 28 km husky tour, river floating (truly unique), snowshoe hiking, ice karting, fat biking and a visit to a reindeer farm. All these activities were perfectly organised and taxis and transfers were always punctual. Tourists are treated like guests.
Special thanks to our patient and friendly guides Jari, Heidi, Tiia, Anton, Lumi and Topi. We also appreciated the warm welcome we got from Mika at his family’s reindeer farm.

We are a family of four (two adults and two girls aged 9 & 10) and we did an evening sleigh ride pulled by a snowmobile. We were well looked after by our guide (Larry - hope the spelling is right), who was very knowledgeable. We were picked up from Kussamo by Angela who was very friendly. These two were among the friendliest people I have met on my travels. The tour was on a cloudy night so there was no chance of seeing the northern lights. However, Larry explained lots about how they occur and where is best to see them and what conditions. He took us into the middle of a frozen lake and stopped where we had hot drinks. The only improvement we could have had is a starry night but you cannot do much about weather although the light snowfall was nice in a different way. This is a tour that people with children can do or romantic couples. Make sure you are ready for cold although the venue has plentiful supply of gear to make sure you are OK.

We had a great time at the husky sledge ride! The staff were experienced and nice, dogs were friendly and we had a traditional sausage and coffee afterwards. We even saw Santa as it was a Christmas day! The staff made your visit feel safe with necessary covid restrictions and rhey look after the dogs. We saw some reindeers too, the safari was the highlight of our trip to Ruka.

An amazing day of white water rafting (and floating) on Kitkajoki in Oulanka national park. We opted for the full day tour: 7 hours and 32 km of rafting. It was amazing! Wonderful scenery, great guide and so much rapid excitement. I warmly recommend this to all adults.
