Looking for something a bit different we headed to this park to take a look at an operational lighthouse. We were not prepared for hiking, wearing sandals, but the short path is good for all footwear. There are 2 viewpoints for the lighthouse with lots of places to stop and take in the amazing old forest. If you are more prepared the longer trails look like nice hikes and we will do this next time.

Really fun walk! Easy to get to and beautiful views, hard to believe just a stone throw away from an incredibly busy city because it’s so peaceful! It’s also so clean and the trails are well maintained! Highly recommend for those who aren’t into big hikes but enjoy the perfect insta pic!

We went on a weekday morning and it was not very crowded, I could see that it would be popular in a sunny summer weekend though. We explored the paths and descended to East Beach and climbed the rocks at low tide. The kids learned about lighthouses and liked exploring the beach. By the time we left mid-afternoon the parking lot was jammed, so plan ahead!

You park at the top and walk down a trail for about 20 minutes until you reach the bottom to view the lighthouse. When you reach the lighthouse, you're restricted from getting close to it by a fence. The highlight is going down a trail to the left of the lighthouse near the bathrooms. The view was one of the most amazing views I've ever seen. We brought a lunch with us, and sat on the large rocks and admired the view of Vancouver and the Burrard Inlet. We saw a seal in the water below us and several sea birds. The walk down to the lighthouse was fine, but just remember that after you're done, you'll need to walk back up.
