This small museum is located on the main street in a former bank building built in 1909. There's an exhibit that relates to the short-lived boom and bust of the community of Hosmer a little to the east of Fernie. That made me want to go and visit to see the old coking ovens which are still there. An activity... More

Particularly enjoyed the interactive videologues of stories provided by locals. Fernie is an area rich in history with the development of the coal mines and subsequent immigration.

While in Fernie recently we stopped by the museum for a visit. Although it is small, there are many interesting displays to keep your interest. It was a fun learning experience for my family and we would recommend it to you.

Walking around downtown we had lunch and planned to visit the museum. The sign said open, but they also had back in 5 - 10 minutes. A return time would be more appropriate.

Lovely museum in downtown Fernie. Staff are always welcoming and helpful. Many of the exhibits have talking histories. Just the right amount of information without being overwhelming.

Love Fernie and it's rich history! The young man working there was very knowledgable and engaging. My favourite part was learning about Tom Uphill and my daughter loved the tunnel.

This museum is informative friendly and impressive. The lower floor has a large collection of items photographs and information to really give you an understanding of the history and struggles this tough northern town has endured.
