It's a pretty spot down a gravel road, where a U.S. Aircraft crashed right after take-off. No survivors! This site is maintained by the U.S.A.

There is a palpable sadness in this meaningful memorial. The sculpture is well done, finely detailed and haunting. If you are visiting Gander or even just driving by, take a short moment to visit. You won't be sorry you did.

This is just a short distance off the main road. It has been designed as a memorial with great care and sensitivity. It is worth taking time to walk around and reflect on the message of the place.

It was very cool to visit this spot after seeing the recreation on the TV show Mayday. They did a very good job keeping it meaningful and subtle. The sculpture is really impressive and the commentary on site is well done.

Drove all the way from Stephenville, NL, on our way back to St.John’s. We couldn’t find the Silent Witness Memorial Park, because of bad directions on TA, and lack of signage from the highway. Too bad, wed were visiting from Toronto and was looking forward...More

This stunning and heartbreaking memorial is dedicated to the 248 American military and 8 crew members whose plane crashed here in this spot just after leaving the Gander airport back on December 11th, 1985. It is a peaceful, moving, serene memorial tucked away but easily...More
