While visiting St. Andrews, we decided to visit the Old Gaol and Courthouse. All four of us were surprised by the terrible Gaol conditions, but the most shocking fact is that some children were incarcerated there and treated the same as the adults! Excellent tour....More

There is a small charge to go through the old jail and the courthouse, but the lady who gave us the tour was excellent. This is well worth going through to see the old jail and the courthouse.

Amazing how time goes by listening and following the history of St.Andrews By-The-Sea in New Brunswick, Canada. The cemeteries and the people who lived there are plentiful and real. Being in the Old Gaol and experiencing the cells...wow. Just so much history coming alive.

I didn't see much of note in the archive building itself, but there was a lot happening outside including US Civil War re-enactors. It was a great time seeing some history in action. The adjacent Goal was great.More
