I can honestly say I have walked by the canoe countless times and never really stopped to have a good look. It looks unkempt and doesn't pique my curiosity. The statues out front are creepy and make me uninterested in what else there is to see

the site isn't actively maintained but its still a pretty cool artifact that was returned back to the Nuu Chah Nulth community around 2003.

It's an impressive sculpture. I am not sure about the Nuu-Chah-Nulth traditions but other Native cultures let their sculptures eventually return to the earth and they aren't supposed to be maintained.

We went to see this exhibit because we had heard about one of the carvers. It was a disappointment to see the glass surrounding the exhibit: very dirty. Someone has thrown a beer can into the area and it rests on the knees of one of the Native whalers- very sad. The area inside the exhibit does not look like... More

Incredible craftsmanship of the canoe sculpture. Very realistic and captured the movements very well. Unfortunately due to the structure the sculpture is encased in, I did not get the full effect of the dramatic spearing of the whale however,. I did like what I could see. CG

It is a wooden sculpture of First Nations hunting for whale. It is outside under cover and is free to look at.
