My wife and I are not regular bike riders, but we do take a ride out to Sidney every so often. More often than not, we walk the Lochside Trail. We will often take a walk out to the farms and birdwatch or divert over to Island View Beach. You will share the trail with runners, walkers, joggers, bikers and... More

Lochside trail north of McKenzie is a great place to bike or hike. Highlights include Mattick's Farm for coffee, Harvest Road loco-vore cafe at Mitchell Farms, pigs, ponds, horses, farms. New gravel surface between Hunt Valley and Dooley makes it even better.

The Lochside Regional Trail is a very scenic easy ride. Scenery includes ponds with ducks, ocean views, deer and pretty spectacular homes. Definitely recommend as a great way to see the area outside of Victoria.

I followed this trail along Cordova Bay in the all seasons. With up and down and winding trail is a great excercise. I have followed the trail close to Victoria city. Best excercise one can do daily.

The trail is a great place to go for a walk or ride. No cars to deal with makes it safe and the areas it goes through makes for interesting and beautiful views.

Most of the trail is on an old rail bed, so it is mostly flat. There are some portions on the main roads, but most is secluded and beautifu. A great way into Victoria from the ferries. We travel it fairly often in good weather and it never disappoints. The treat at the end of the trail in Victoria is... More

Trail runs from The BC Ferry Terminal north of Sidney right down to Victoria and out to Sooke and beyond. A mixture of well-marked dirt trail and road. Trail follows an unused gas car railway line. Convenient stop halfway down for coffee or food.

If you're looking for an easy hour (or so) ride that takes you past villages, seaside homes, restaurants, and forested lanes then the Lochside Trail is for you. It's well marked and (a bonus) has several rest stops that provide water and maps. My favourite rest stop is at Mt. Newton Xrd next to the McDonald's. The trail is not... More
