I had never heard of ammonite gem stones until recently. They are mined in Alberta and when processed they are very beautiful. We visited the Ammonite Factory and found some beautiful items. They had just moved into their new location and we were their first...More

We saw an ad of the ammonite factory in one of the tourist magazines. We arrived first thing in the morning to take the tour. We were the only 2 there but the woman was willing to show us around. She was very knowledgeable and...More

We recently stopped in to the Ammonite factory on a Saturday morning for a quick peek with grandparents and kids aged 10& 12. We tried to visit the chocolatier first, but they were closed. The set up seems more like a store, than what you...More

We went for the factory tour, only to find out it was just a tour around the room. They gave some interesting information, however, the person giving the tour made it awful. She lacked confidence in her voice and I felt like she was having...More

Located in the industrial section of Canmore, this little store sells impressive jewelry made from fossilized ammonites. Some pieces are fascinating considering their millions years of existence. Worht a little detour when heavy rain prevents you from enjoying the outdoors.

Thank you for your review, however we need to point out to you that even the most reasonably intelligent person realizes that most retail stores or even factory outlets do not supply washrooms no matter where you are. I am sure if you went to...More

We found the tour informative and the staff very friendly and helpful! From my little knowledge of this gemstone I don't know where the idea of a factory manufacturing facility would come from in regard to the other reviewers? There were work areas present but...More

I had hoped to see actual work being done to reclaim the gems from their natural state. The tour consisted of the history and how-tos presented in one room. The prices were very high considering they market themselves as a factory outlet. The tour lasted...More

We are sorry you did not see workers in the factory - this all depends on the day. Apparently you were here on a day where the workers were too busy with tourists to be working on our workbench. As for high prices, that is...More

A must-see in Canmore. Tours are available & staff love sharing the process these gems (found only in southern AB) travel through to become jewelry. Small fee for tour. Factory is free. Great selection of gems. The one mine left is estimated to be depleted...More
