An option of hiking up by the falls which is pretty steep in places or an easy version if needed. The falls are magnificent and the lake at the top is worth the hike. A nice rock climbing wall is at the top.

We completed this hike in about three hours (harder route up, easier route back down). We paused to take photos at various spots for over an hour (approx). Grassy lakes had been shut due to bear activity until a day or two before our visit,...More

This easy walk to Grassi lake is filled with pleasure! Once you arrive at the small but tranquil lake, take a moment to absorb the the beautiful colours. Fall is an ideal time to do this walk, and return to the town of Canmore for...More

We went to the Alberta Welcome Center just north of the town of Canmore. They suggested this hike and I'm so glad they did. The sign says to walk up the trail and down the service road and I am so glad we did it...More

Even the easy path is a hike for a not in shape person like me. It took us 30 minutes to finally reach this peaceful place. Both little lakes with their green transparent water looked a little mysterious; a good place to medit.

We took the longer harder route up and the easier route down. Is a really nice hike, great views, worth doing.

We took a drive up to Grassi Lakes. My brother and sister in law's favorite spot. I can see why. Beautiful area.

Grassi Lakes is still closed. We heard so much about this place and when we went on August 26th, it was still closed and taped off due to bears. Maybe next year...

We loved stopping at Grassi Lakes! It was so beautiful and we saw a mountain goat! We took a 40 minute hike and the scenery was breathtaking. Would highly suggest!

Yes, as of Aug 22 it's still closed. The Alberta Parks "Know B4 U Go" page lists the current bear warnings and closures.

There were people wading in the upper lake (not sure of the name) as it is deeper but not really deep. Very cold mountain water though! 😊
