The dam, drinking water supply of Vancouver, itself is interesting. On rainy days you have the water being released and the dam is more impressive. What is even nicer is the path to walk around just by the damn in the nature which remains the most impressive asset of Vancouver.

Just a 20 minute trip for downtown. Drive past the Capilano bridge, up the mountain for another 4 minutes. There is a park with a great view of the lake. Easy hike along the river. Stop and view the salmon hatchery. Many great views.

This is one of the most picturesque places in North Vancouver. The mountains , lake and the reflection of sky in the water makes it a must see during your stay in Vancouver.

There is quite a few hills so the hiking can be tough, but the trails, mountains and lake are beautiful. This was a chilly March morning but it quickly warmed up towards noon.

The best part about this location is not so much the dam itself, but what is around the dam. The dam itself is cool and it is cool seeing the views from the top and bottom of it. Around the dam there are lots of trails and views of the mountains. My dad and I hiked down to the fish... More

If anyone has seen a dam before, it's just that! The canyon is beautiful, it's high, and the park that looks to the mountains is a nice place to be still for a while.

Stopped here on our way to Grouse Mountain for a quick walk. Lots of dogs. Great view of snowcapped mountains in the distance. Great but very fast.

It was just a dam, but there are some nice trails. One trail will take you all the way to Capilano bridge. I didn't know about the trails prior to arriving at the dam. I may return to hike the trails in the spring time.

We enjoyed the view of the snow capped mountains and walking trails as we crossed the dam. Dog friendly off leash trails too being enjoyed by the locals. Free parking, not that busy on a statutory holiday that is relaxing and peaceful and pleasantly not crowded.
