This fortress is definitely worth a visit if you are in the surrounding region (or even if you're not). It sits among a hilly landscape and next to a large river, which make for excellent views. The fortress is in good condition with a few exhibits inside it's many rooms (these however are not that impressive). The easiest way to... More

Small but impressive fortress overseeing the Dnister river. The fortress is in a large ground which one can walk all over in. The fortress has some displays, some in English. The torture chamber is particularly interesting. Be prepared to walk a long distance from the village centre, or get a taxi 25uah one way.

We have been visiting Khotyn in August 2016. It is really worth to go and see it. The Khotyn Fortress in Ukrainian: Хотинська фортеця, is a historical complex located on the right bank of the Dniester River in Khotyn, Chernivtsi Oblast of western Ukraine. The Construction of Khotyn fortress started in 1325, and it was pretty lasting process over years... More

Beautiful fortress. It is a great place to dive into history. They have done a great restoration job which is still ongoing. Plus, there are excavation being performed on site as well and the finds are ending up on display.

Not too far from Kamyanets-Podilsky this fortress is a must see. There is surprisingly a lot in English at this fortress. You can catch a local bus that you can catch from Kanyanets Podilksy then just use google maps to walk to the fortress.

I was very impressed. This place is a must see for those, who like myself, love old fortifications and castles. Situated on the hill over Dnister, it is beautiful, old and magnificent. As I understood, it was renovated a little, so now they have impressive excibition of old wall-breaking weapons, used for siege, also few archeological findings and beautiful paintings.... More

I made a mistake, I used the parking lot toilet, the putrid smell...yuck!!. The castle's location is near town and plumbing, Ukraine...Put some men to work and build some toilets. I wouldn't eat at the cafes on site, they also have no running water. 0 Stars Awesome Fortress 5 Stars
