I had less than a day to spend in Auckland before flying home to Australia, so I caught the bus from the airport to the city (about $32 NZD return), and then another free shuttle down to the Harbour. Here I caught a ferry across to Devonport, which was a short trip and in itself, a quaint little town. I... More

This hill has absolutely stunning views in all directions. On a clear day the view across to Auckland city is fantastic, while the view across Hauraki bay is amazing. There is a road that leads to the top, alternatively it takes about 15-30 minutes to walk to the top.

Mt Victoria has one of the most spectacular views of Auckland, sitting on the edge of Devonport you can see the City and many of the islands in the Auckland Harbour. It is very easy to get too. You can take a ferry to Devonport from the City Ferry Building in downtown Auckland and walk through the shops, on your... More

The climb up the hill is not too difficult and the view is worth it. The old fortifications are interesting.

You can walk or drive up the mount. Lots of places to sit out of the breeze and stunning city and Rangitoto views.

The view from the top is just stunning. It's worth it for the incredible landscape. The weather changes in NZ, so if needs be and it's raining, go have a coffee and it'll be sunny by the time you go up!

Peaceful and quiet, this hill has a very nice view of all of Devonport, and the city too. Great for tourists, an amazing place to go with family. There is a road going up, so you can drive up, or just walk up as there is a path going up and stairs. Very nice.

Really interesting area with great views across to the city. You can drive up to the top if you don't fancy the walk. There's lots of old defences up there, even one of the old guns that would have been used to protect the port. The small vents from the underground bunkers that stick out above ground are painted like... More

Walked up this mountain today. We took the side walk which got pretty scary and narrow but was probably physically easier than the road (took the road back downhill). Took me about 10-15 minutes with stops and my average fitness levels. Breathtaking views of the harbour and city and surrounding area. A must do. Only a short ferry from Auckland... More

I have been up mount Victoria dozens of times and I still enjoy as much as I did when I first went up. There is lots of potential for absolutely great photos!
