The Hall is a little bit out of the way in North Yorkshire but it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has places like Helmsley, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx nearby, so well worth a visit to the area. The house and gardens are both beautiful. Lots of history, lots of information from the helpful and friendly staff, interesting for young... More

We decided to go for a run out in the countryside on a nice sunny day. Haven't been to Nunnington for quite a while so we thought we would combine it with a trip to Helmsley via Sutton Bank which is so much easier via the A1M than it used to be. Nunnington is pleasant enough but in the overall... More

In an effort to make more use of our national trust membership we called in after seeing the signs - a good decision! Every member of staff was helpful and knowledgeable on the hall. The grounds are well kept and the vegetable and herb gardens a good if you are into that. They had an Easter hunt on for children... More

A fascinating old hall with a delightful array of gardens to wander around (dogs allowed in grounds 😀). The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable but unobtrusive. There was a queue for the tearoom inside the house so we took advantage of the sunny weather and dined alfresco with the peacocks by the river. The serving hatch provided soup, sandwiches,... More

This is a very well run and looked after National Trust Property a few miles from York and Castle Howard. Lots to look at and read about and the excellent staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. The tea room serve very good reasonably priced food in nice setting within the house. There is sometimes a wait but quick turnover and... More

The tearoom is in the house and food and service wonderful. Lots of rooms and information around the house over 3 floors. The miniatures were incredibly detailed. Small shop selling usual... More

Really enjoyed visiting this National Trust site. Started off with Pooh Sticks on the bridge between the car park and the hall. The house itself is great with a lot of things to see and learn about the previous owners. There are activity sheets for the children to help them get more interested - nothing better than a quiz to... More
