This place is like they tell in agent stories but it's real. Going to an old town of Beijing or Shanghai is nothing compared to this. A good place to visit even during the national holiday, but reaching this place needs a local bus When you come make sure to have time to see the show - the performance where... More

Last Saturday all sino-canadian students as well as the teachers went to Miao Village. At first I am thinking that this place is like really and old-preserved village where I can see the local people and their way of living but it was already commercialized. But i have no regrets in visiting Miao because it was really fun while with... More

Xijiang miao still maintain their originality. some of the women still wearing their traditional custom to welcome the visitor. The local very friendly and helpful, they always put a big smile on their face. It's worth to walk around at nite time specially around the old town.

My partner and I arrived on New Year’s Eve around 8:00pm to the village, which was enough time to have dinner and make it to the free show in the town center. We stayed four nights: 1 night in town and 3 nights at Yun Duan Lan Ting Resort Hotel. We came here to find handmade Miao embroidery examples and... More

I went there on Oct 22, its neither weekend nor Chinese holiday, but still full of visitors, everything sold there are very expensive, especially in restaurants. Except that, the scene is beautiful, I went to the viewpoint at about 5pm, stayed there until 7pm, took many beautiful pictures there.

After hours and hours of traveling, from Beijing, we reached the village where most of old houses were replaced by new constructions. The streets were not different from any other touristic places in China: shop, shop, shop, restaurant, restaurant, clothes for rent, hotels. The view is beautiful and in aim to see how the locals live and their original houses... More

There is absolutely no denying that Xijiang is a bit of a tourist trap, complete with an RMB110 entry fee. Overcome the disheartening feeling you experience on entering along with hundreds of other people lugging suitcases however and you'll find that, off the main stretch, it's still lovely to get lost amidst the closely packed houses, snack on a variety... The rice terrace was fun to hike on, but the village itself had too many tourists and not a wide variety of things to see. The free performance with dancing each morning is worth checking out. From the train station in Kaili, you'll need to hire a driver for the one-hour trip to XiJiang.
