Combined with the Las Cruces Biological Station, the Wilson Botanical Garden has a wealth of plant species, including unusual types of orchids and large collections of bromeliads and palm trees. The rooms for guests are well kept and laundry facilities are available.

The gardens attract a nice range of birds, offering good chances for seeing many different species. The trails are well-maintained and most provide easy walking.

We spent three hours on the grounds and saw many different trees, plants & flowers. There are a lot of different trails within the park that you can access at your leisure. We even had a picnic at the end of our visit.

We spent an absolutely invigorating 48 hours here and departed reluctantly, wishing we had 48 more to explore the further corners of this consummately appealing corner of Costa Rica. From the numerous self-guided paths (some of them quite raw and challenging) to the astonishingly varied botanical and avian communities, the Las Cruces Biological Station merits pride of place for the... The bad news first: We had arranged in advance to do an early-morning birding tour. Somehow our reservation got deleted, so we arrived very early to find a guard who didn't speak English and didn't know anything about the reservation, and there was no one around to help for awhile. Eventually, a person in charge came and rescued us, and... More

Spent the afternoon roaming the grounds of the Wilson Botanical Garden in early January. I am not sure what my expectations were but I found the experience pretty ordinary. The grounds are well maintained but are not especially remarkable. The highlight of the visit was the viewing tower which afforded a splendid view of the surrounding countryside and where we... This is a great place to take in on any day. Most days are comfortable and relaxing for this activity. There are most all of the indigenous botanicals represented here. Many paths are available and are several excellent walks through the gardens, whether you are just out for a stroll, or intent on learning the scientific names of every tree... More

Really nice visit with many trails to be explored. Take a walk to the rio Javas, have a swim and walk on the ridge trail.

So beautiful, and you can easily spend a morning or afternoon walking the property. Saw birds galore and some sort of big rodent walking about (maybe rodent is the wrong word, they were friendly and cool looking). My partner and I spent about 3 or 4 hours walking all the various paths and checking out the awesome flowers, trees, and... More
