Rather Dutch
Jul 2018 • Solo
Beautifully restored windmills almost 300 years old. Number 4 is from 1722. Testament to the Dutch drive to use land in an efficient way. First peat was dug out. When the pools filled with water, it was pumped out and a polder emerged. Agriculture is still ongoing in the surroundings of the mills, though since 1953 they only function to show the technique is still working well. Nearby Gemaal de Graaff has taken over their job.

Easy to reach by bicycle from Rotterdam Central Station; basically follow the Rotte river bank (17km).

Nice for those who love windmills and can be combined with a visit to Gouda
May 2015 • Solo
For those who love windmills, who don't/ can't go to kinderdijk, this is a nice picture opportunity close to Gouda, so ideal to combine a visit to Gouda/ or a stay in Gouda with a visit to these four Windmills.

They have been completely restored and it really looks lovely... really a good one if you want to make a scenic Dutch picture (and these windmills are fully operational and ready to be used if it is ever needed).

Unfortunately you can't enter them... but take a bike, or even your car and enjoy the country side in combination with the four a lovely relaxing thing to do (at least I thought so).
