We went here on Saturday night whilst visiting elderly relatives, we had the most amazing meal, I'm not usually one to choose pork but thought I would try something different for a change, the trio of pork was just amazing, and for pudding a salted caramel melting pudding wow! Wish we could move this pub to Dorset and we would... More

Without doubt one of the best places for miles around if you want a proper home cooked traditional Sunday lunch using only the best local ingredients in authentic surroundings. They also have a great selection of local beers. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Step back in time. Cosy, well- worn surroundings with roaring fires. Imaginative and beautifully cooked food. Great service. Real ale and good wines. Not for those on a budget.

We would highly recommend this pub. Charlie Scott and his team provide an excellent, warm welcome at this lovely and historic pub. The lunch menu was interesting and the quality of the food was superb. We will most definitely return and look forward to dinner there soon L and P

Step into this pub & step back in time - It's like stepping into a set at Beamish Museum! Shame there are not more pubs like this! Fabulous atmosphere & great to see them championing local real ales. Visited for Sunday lunch - (In Which they do two sittings) - place was packed. For Sunday lunch - choice of 5... More
