Had a hike on the Arenal Volcano and stopped off at Tabacon after for the hot springs and dinner. Drinks are pricey at the swim up bar so be prepared with a credit card handy. (I tucked mine into my bathing suit top.) If you go at night it's really dark so it's hard to see much. Water shoes would have been good for the rocky uneven surfaces in the river butsitting under the waterfalls was awesome! Dinner was really good, the best we've had at a resort so far in Costa Rica. Would love to revisit and stay here to fully experience this location.

We bought the day pass which included dinner. The hot springs themselves are about 100.4F. Nice and toasty. Lots of areas and it was not crowded. It was beautiful. There is apparently a free area of the same river just across the street from Tabacon where the locals go. This is definitely an expensive activity so you could do the free side of the river if you wanted to. I would wear water shoes at is a natural environment for the most part. Bring your own toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, etc). They do have towels for you though. The dinner was actually pretty yummy. You pick 3 things from a menu: app, entree, dessert. Also coffee/tea available and a drink of your choice. We got soda. I enjoyed this experience but definitely a bit pricey.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It is a pleasure to know that I enjoy our natural hot springs. As you mentioned, we recommend using a water shoes since our hot springs are of 100% natural origin, river sediments such as stone and sand can be uncomfortable when walking barefoot. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed your meal time at Ave restaurant and that everything was delicious. We appreciate your comment and hope you return soon. We bought day pass with dinner. We already had visited free.hot.spring just across the road from this one and.was.nt.impressed.with tht.so.decided to go to Tabacan Hot Spring. They provide towels and locker. Water was warm not to hot too cold. There are many man-made small ponds and pools in which you can enjoy. There were very few people so we had pretty much many ponds to ourselves. They have made in a way so that there are little falls.everywhere.under which.you can sit and enjoy. One caution for vegetarians. There are very.limited options for.veg food and that too not good. So if you dont mind going somewhere else to get tasty food after hot spring experience, dont buy ticket with meal. 3 hours experience will provide you satisfaction and remove one thing from your costa rica bucket list.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It is a pleasure to know that you enjoyed our location as well as our natural hot springs. We are privileged to have a natural thermal river directly heated by the Arenal volcano, which runs through our property forming waterfalls, pools and pools on its descent. On the other hand, we appreciate your comment regarding our F&B service. We value all the opinions provided by our visitors as they allow us to take into account growth opportunities. We have directed your valuable opinion to our Food & Beverages department. We appreciate your comment and we hope to have the pleasure of serving you again in the near future. I went back to Tabacon Hot Springs to see if it was still as beautiful as always. I was not disappointed. They have made significant improvements since my last visit and now the pools of water are tiled which helps a lot. Before the natural rocks in the river were slippery. Lockers were nice & clean. Towels were in abundant supply. We had lunch there and enjoyed the buffet. There were tons of choices. Self serve salad bar with salads in individual containers, an attendant for main dishes, an attendant grilling steak and delicious desserts.
